PS5 Gets Over 100 Free Live TV Channels in Major Sony Entertainment Upgrade
Sony has launched Live TV on PS5, giving PlayStation 5 users in the United States access to more than 100 free, ad-supported live channels directly through the console. The service also includes a growing library of on-demand movies, TV shows, anime, sports, news and other entertainment, with no separate app download or paid subscription required.
The new service is built directly into the PS5 Media section, making it easy for users to switch from gaming to television without leaving the console. The launch lineup features content from major names including Amazon MGM Studios, Crunchyroll, FOX, NBCUniversal, NFL Channel and UFC, alongside channels dedicated to popular shows such as Community, The Walking Dead, Hell’s Kitchen and Unsolved Mysteries.
Anime and sports fans also have plenty to choose from, with channels featuring Naruto, Sailor Moon, Death Note and Hunter x Hunter, while sports coverage includes MMA, football, hockey, motorsports, golf, boxing and soccer. Users can access the service by opening the Media tab on their PS5, selecting Live TV on PS5 and connecting their PlayStation account; Sony says the service will continue to receive new channels and content.
For now, Live TV on PS5 is available only in the United States, but Sony is looking to expand the service to Canada and potentially other markets. The company has not yet announced a wider international rollout, so PlayStation users in countries such as Nigeria, the UK and other parts of Europe will have to wait for further announcements.
