P-Square Crisis: Peter Makes Fresh Revelation in Jude Okoye Trial

Peter Okoye, one half of the defunct music duo P-Square, has told a Federal High Court in Lagos that he received more than $800,000 in royalties from the group’s music but did not pay any part of the money to his elder brother, Jude Okoye.

Peter made the disclosure while testifying virtually and being cross-examined by Jude’s lawyer, Clement Onwuewunor, SAN, in the ongoing fraud trial involving Jude and his company, Northside Music Limited. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is prosecuting Jude and the company over alleged N1.3 billion and $1 million fraud.

Peter said the royalties were paid by SACEM, a French organisation responsible for collecting and distributing royalties to music creators and publishers. He maintained that the money belonged to him and his twin brother, Paul, insisting that Jude was not a member of P-Square, although he acknowledged Jude’s contribution to the group’s success through directing some of their music videos.

The singer also confirmed that Jude had previously provided royalty reports covering 2016 to 2022 and that the EFCC was aware the documents had been forwarded to him. Justice Alexander Owoeye adjourned further hearing to December 8 and 9, 2026.
