Overnight Fire Ravages Popular Yellowknife Pizzeria, Damages Nearby Buildings

A major overnight fire has severely damaged Wood Fired Pizzeria and several nearby structures in Yellowknife, prompting an emergency response from firefighters, police, and municipal authorities.
The blaze broke out in the early hours of Thursday along 49 Street. A resident living near the scene said they became aware of the fire around 3 a.m. and alerted authorities as flames spread through the area.
By dawn, two fire trucks, RCMP officers, and municipal enforcement personnel remained at the scene while firefighters continued efforts to extinguish hotspots and prevent the fire from spreading further.
Wood Fired Pizzeria, a popular local restaurant that opened in 2024, sustained significant damage. A neighbouring home and another structure located behind the restaurant also appeared to have been affected by the fire.
Firefighters were seen entering multiple properties adjacent to the pizzeria as they worked to contain the incident and assess potential risks to surrounding buildings.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire, and there was no immediate confirmation on whether any injuries were reported.
In an update issued Thursday morning, a spokesperson for the City of Yellowknife said the city’s fire department was continuing to gather information and would provide further details to the public as the investigation progresses.
The spokesperson added that RCMP officers remained at the scene while emergency crews carried out their work.

Officials are expected to release additional information once preliminary assessments and investigations are completed.
