I Was Doing White-Collar Crime in America — Charly Boy Opens Up About His Criminal Past

Veteran Nigerian entertainer and activist Charles Oputa, widely known as Charly Boy, has publicly admitted that he was involved in white-collar crime during his younger years in the United States, describing that period of his life as one filled with reckless decisions and poor judgment.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Charly Boy reflected on his troubled past, saying he engaged in criminal activities and made several mistakes that could have changed the course of his life permanently.
The outspoken social commentator said he has no intention of hiding his past, explaining that he believes his experiences have shaped the person he has become today.

Recalling his time in America at about 25 years old, Charly Boy revealed that he participated in white-collar crime and other risky activities, admitting that he often made foolish choices while growing up.
According to him, he documented those difficult chapters in his memoir to present an honest account of his journey, from youthful rebellion and criminal behaviour to personal transformation and self-discovery.

The entertainer added that despite his past, he believes his survival and eventual turnaround serve a greater purpose, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to inspire others through his life story.
