Victor Osimhen Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery, Faces Three-Week Layoff
Galatasaray have confirmed that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has undergone successful surgery following a left knee injury sustained during their UEFA Champions League match against VfB Stuttgart. An MRI scan revealed a free fragment in the affected area after the forward suffered a knee sprain, prompting the club’s medical team to operate at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital in Istanbul.
The Turkish champions confirmed on Saturday, November 7, that club doctor Yener İnce performed the operation. Galatasaray said Osimhen would undergo daily medical assessments, with his treatment and rehabilitation continuing under the supervision of the club’s medical staff. Reports in Turkey indicate that the 27-year-old could miss league fixtures against Amedspor and Samsunspor, with his recovery estimated to take around three weeks.

Osimhen could return against Aston Villa on November 24 if his rehabilitation progresses as expected. The injury is also a concern for Nigeria’s Super Eagles ahead of their upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Tanzania, with coach Eric Chelle hoping to have the former African Footballer of the Year available.
