We Are Engaging Trump Over Rigging Plot — Atiku’s US Firm Accuses Tinubu
A United States lobbying firm representing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar says it has approached senior Trump administration officials and lawmakers over Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.

Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C., disclosed this in a statement published on X, accusing President Bola Tinubu’s administration of attempting to manipulate the forthcoming election through Nigeria’s judiciary.
The firm said it was engaging American officials to draw attention to what it described as interference in Nigeria’s electoral process ahead of 2027.
It stated: “We are engaging with senior members of the Donald Trump Administration and Congress about Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s latest blatant attempt to use the Nigerian judiciary to rig the upcoming Nigerian presidential election.”
The lobbying firm further claimed that the United States State Department had documented corruption within Nigeria’s judiciary and political pressure allegedly exerted on courts.
It warned that failure by the 119th US Congress and State Department to address the alleged interference could damage both institutions’ credibility and reputations.
The development follows a Federal High Court judgment concerning the leadership crisis within the African Democratic Congress, which has affected Atiku’s 2027 presidential ambition.
The ruling reportedly nullified the David Mark-led leadership and invalidated Atiku’s nomination as the party’s candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
Reacting to the decision, the lobbying firm questioned its timing, alleging that Tinubu administration officials met Wednesday night after Atiku’s large campaign rally in Sokoto.
It suggested the court ruling was connected to the alleged meeting, although it provided no independent evidence establishing a link between both developments.
The firm also raised concerns about possible implications for Nigeria’s political stability, particularly as Democratic lawmakers reportedly prepare to investigate Tinubu’s mining Memorandum of Understanding.

It warned that the alleged actions could heighten political tensions in Nigeria, with possible consequences for regional stability and American interests across West Africa.
