Tinubu Promises Prosperity, Seeks Nigerians’ Support for Second Term
President Bola Tinubu has promised prosperity and economic recovery, appealing to Nigerians for a second term as the All Progressives Congress launched its 2027 campaign in Kaduna on Saturday.

Tinubu defended his administration’s policies, accusing opposition parties of creating hunger and poverty. He insisted his government was addressing economic challenges and urged voters to support APC candidates.
The president encouraged eligible Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate in the forthcoming elections, urging supporters to vote for the ruling party at every level.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani expressed confidence in Tinubu’s northern support, citing government interventions in road construction, security, education and healthcare as reasons Nigerians should support the president’s re-election bid.
Former Zamfara State governor Abdulaziz Yari also declared that northern political stakeholders had committed themselves to Tinubu’s second-term ambition, promising to demonstrate their support ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
However, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar rejected Tinubu’s attempt to blame opposition parties for economic hardship, arguing that the ruling APC must accept responsibility for its years governing Nigeria.
Atiku criticised fuel subsidy removal, the naira’s depreciation and rising poverty, insisting that voters would assess Tinubu’s administration based on its economic decisions and their consequences for Nigerians.
The African Democratic Congress presidential campaign council described the Kaduna rally as a disappointment, alleging declining public acceptance of the APC and questioning the administration’s performance ahead of 2027.
Meanwhile, APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru urged former state assembly presiding officers to mobilise grassroots support for Tinubu and explain the administration’s economic reforms to Nigerian voters.
The rival positions highlight the growing political contest ahead of the 2027 elections, with the APC promoting its achievements while opposition parties continue criticising Tinubu’s economic policies and governance.
