Nigeria’s Squad Worth 31 Times More Than Madagascar’s Ahead of AFCON Clash
The Super Eagles head into Friday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar with a huge financial advantage, with Nigeria’s squad valued at about €281.2 million compared with Madagascar’s €9.05 million, according to Transfermarkt valuations cited by Soccernet.
Ademola Lookman leads Nigeria’s squad at €40 million, while Calvin Bassey is valued at €28 million. Raphael Onyedika (€23m), Alex Iwobi (€20m), Tolu Arokodare (€20m) and Ola Aina (€18m) are among the other highly valued Super Eagles players, while Madagascar’s most valuable players are significantly lower.
The biggest difference comes in attack, where Nigeria’s forwards are valued at €124 million compared with Madagascar’s €2.6 million. However, Madagascar have previously shown they can upset Nigeria, famously beating the Super Eagles 2-0 at the 2019 AFCON, meaning the huge difference in market value will still have to be reflected on the pitch.
