WAFCON 2026: Cameroon Beat Malawi 3-0 to Lift Maiden African Crown
The Cameroon Women’s National Team made history at the Rabat Olympic Stadium by cruising to a dominant 3-0 victory over tournament debutants Malawi in the final of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

This historic triumph marks the Indomitable Lionesses’ first-ever continental title, ending a painful streak of four previous runner-up finishes in the competition.
The victory is even more remarkable considering Cameroon initially missed out on automatic qualification but advanced after the tournament field expanded to 16 teams.
The final was entirely decided in a blistering first-half offensive display from the Central Africans.

Star forward Marie Gisèle Ngah Manga broke the deadlock in the 20th minute with a close-range header, and Naomi Eto doubled the advantage ten minutes later with a spectacular swiveling volley.
In the third minute of first-half added time, Eto rounded the Malawi goalkeeper and laid off a perfect pass for Ngah Manga to tap home her second of the night and fifth of the finals.

The resilient Cameroonian defence completely neutralized Malawi’s highly feared frontline duo of Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga, protecting the clean sheet with immense discipline.
While the Scorchers fall short of a fairytale ending to their debut tournament, both finalists can celebrate having comfortably locked in automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Alongside the historic trophy, Cameroon walks away with a record $2 million in winners’ prize money.
