Golden Glove Glory: Michaely Bihina Crowned Best Goalkeeper as Cameroon Lift WAFCON Title
Cameroon goalkeeper Michaely Bihina has etched her name into continental football folklore after being named the best goalkeeper of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The shot-stopper picked up the coveted Golden Glove award following a flawless defensive performance in the final, where she kept a vital clean sheet to secure Cameroon’s historic 3-0 victory over Malawi.
Her exceptional reflexes and commanding presence throughout the tournament played a decisive role in guiding the Indomitable Lionesses to their maiden African crown.
Bihina’s tournament campaign was a masterclass in modern goalkeeping, conceding very few goals across the entire final tournament in Morocco.
She anchored a resilient backline that successfully neutralized the competition’s most dangerous frontlines, including Malawi’s prolific strike duo of Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga in the final.
This individual accolade cements her status as the top female goalkeeper on the continent and marks a proud new chapter for Cameroonian football.
