Midfield Maestro: Monique Ngock Named WAFCON 2026 Woman of the Competition
Cameroon’s midfield powerhouse Monique Ngock has officially been named the ultimate Player of the Tournament for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The 21-year-old Stade de Reims star served as the tactical heartbeat of the Indomitable Lionesses throughout their historic championship run in Morocco.
Her extraordinary defensive work rate and superb passing skills earned her the prestigious individual crown.
Ngock completely dictated the tempo of the final match, neutralizing Malawi’s dangerous counter-attacks to secure a dominant 3-0 victory.
She started every single game for the Central Africans, anchoring a formidable midfield unit that successfully outmuscled continental heavyweights like Ghana.
This major individual accolade firmly cements the rising star’s reputation as one of the most exciting young football talents in the world.
This prestigious award officially completes a historic clean sweep of major tournament trophies for the newly crowned African champions.
Alongside Ngock’s player of the tournament award, teammate Michaely Bihina secured the Golden Glove award for best goalkeeper.
These incredible individual honors perfectly cap off Cameroon’s maiden continental title victory and their record-breaking two-million-dollar prize winning campaign.
