5 Movies You Should Watch This August

August is here, and I’ve decided I’m not letting the month pass without finding something good to watch. From a powerful Nollywood story to Hollywood blockbusters, suspenseful thrillers and a nostalgic classic, these are five movies I think deserve a spot on my August watchlist.

1. Ikenga: The Last Festival

I’m starting with a movie that feels especially close to home. Ikenga: The Last Festival is a cultural suspense drama arriving in Nigerian cinemas nationwide on August 21, featuring Nollywood veterans including Pete Edochie and Nkem Owoh.

2. Insidious: Out of the Further:

Horror movie lovers like myself should gather here because this is currently on top of the summit. The terrifying sixth installment in the supernatural horror franchise, bringing Lin Shaye back to the screen.

3. The End of Oak Street

For something completely different, I’m looking forward to The End of Oak Street, a dinosaur-focused sci-fi adventure directed by David Robert Mitchell. If you enjoy mystery, danger and prehistoric creatures, this one should be interesting.

4. The Last House

For those of us who would love to be in the mood for suspense, The Last House makes my list. It’s a tense thriller currently making waves on Netflix and promises the kind of story that can keep me glued to the screen.

5. The Rivals of Amziah King

You’re only one decision away from watching one of the bestA gritty, rural crime thriller starring Matthew McConaughey that has been earning stellar reviews.
