Black Market Sets New Guinness World Record With 51,000 Viewers
Nollywood film Black Market has set a new Guinness World Record after 51,000 people attended its screening at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos on Saturday.
The turnout surpassed the previous record of 43,624 viewers, which was set in 2015 during the screening of the Filipino film Felix Manalo. Guinness World Records confirmed 51,000 as the qualifying attendance, based on viewers who stayed from the beginning to the end of the film.
The record-breaking event was organised by Switch Visuals Productions and Rixel Studios, with music, food and other activities creating a festival atmosphere before the screening.
Directed by Fatimah Binta Gimsay, Black Market features Lateef Adedimeji, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Ibrahim Yekini, Omowunmi Dada, Scarlet Gomez and other Nigerian actors.
