3 Horror Movies So Disturbing They Were Banned in Multiple Countries
Some horror films have gone far beyond frightening audiences, becoming so graphic or disturbing that censors in several countries refused to allow them to be shown.
Released in 1980, Cannibal Holocaust became one of the most controversial films in cinema history. Its realistic depictions of violence, torture and cannibalism led to bans in numerous countries, while director Ruggero Deodato was even arrested after authorities suspected that some of the deaths shown in the film were real.
Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead also faced heavy censorship during the 1980s, particularly in the UK, where it became part of the notorious “video nasty” controversy.
Meanwhile, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was banned or restricted in several countries because of its disturbing atmosphere, psychological terror and brutal chainsaw violence, despite containing less graphic bloodshed than many modern horror films.
Just in case you are tempted to watch any of these movies after trading this article, you can go ahead. However, let’s have your thoughts on the ones you feel should be on this list.
