Where to Invest in Nigeria in October 2026 as Interest Rates Fall
Investors entering October 2026 are facing a changing market as the Central Bank of Nigeria cuts its Monetary Policy Rate to 23%, Treasury bill yields decline and the naira remains relatively strong. The shift is pushing investors to weigh fixed income, equities, dollar assets and alternatives based on their risk appetite.

Treasury bills and money-market funds still offer relatively stable returns, with the 364-day Treasury bill recently clearing at 15.89%. However, falling yields mean investors may want to lock in attractive rates sooner rather than later, while FGN bonds could benefit if yields continue to decline.
Equities remain an option for investors seeking higher returns, although the strong market rally means careful stock selection is increasingly important. Analysts continue to see potential in stocks including ETI, AIICO, UBA, Access Holdings, GTCO, Zenith Bank, MTN Nigeria, BUA Cement, Aradel and Nigerian Breweries, while several equity mutual funds have already posted strong gains in 2026.

For investors with larger portfolios, diversification remains key. A combination of equities or equity funds, fixed income, money-market instruments and some dollar or alternative-asset exposure could provide a balance between growth, income and protection against market risks.
