Kenya Records First Confirmed Ebola Case as MSF Steps Up Preparedness
Kenya has recorded its first confirmed case of Ebola disease, with the patient later dying in Nairobi, according to the Ministry of Health. Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is working with Kenyan health authorities to strengthen the country’s preparedness and response.

MSF has trained 355 health professionals at an Ebola simulation centre in Kajiado County, including 84 Kenyan healthcare workers. The organisation is also supporting preparedness efforts in Mombasa and Busia counties, including training on patient isolation, infection prevention and the safe management of suspected cases.

MSF said community engagement will be critical to controlling the outbreak, particularly in addressing fear and misinformation and building public trust. The organisation is drawing on its experience responding to Ebola outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where thousands of people have been infected and died.
