India Reports One Sailor Missing After Gulf Tanker Attack
India said 13 of 14 Indian crew members aboard the MT El Gaia were rescued after the oil tanker came under attack off Oman, with search operations continuing for the missing sailor.
India’s Foreign Ministry said its embassy in Oman was working with local authorities on the search and rescue effort, while condemning attacks on commercial vessels, seafarers and civilian infrastructure as unacceptable.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations agency reported that a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz was hit by a projectile, sparking a fire and forcing its crew to evacuate. The incident comes as Iran prepares to meet Gulf states in Oman to discuss the Strait of Hormuz and wider regional issues.
