I Need Your Support: Pope Leo’s Urgent Appeal to Cardinals
Pope Leo XIV has appealed to cardinals from around the world to stand firmly behind him as the Catholic Church confronts pressing global and pastoral challenges.

Opening the Extraordinary Consistory at the Vatican, the Pope urged the cardinals to offer honest advice, unwavering loyalty and open dialogue, saying their guidance would be vital as the Church discerns its path forward.
“I need your freedom, your frankness and your loyalty,” the Pope told the gathering, stressing that sincere counsel strengthens the unity of the Church and supports its mission.
Over the two-day meeting, the cardinals are expected to discuss how the Church can respond more effectively to today’s rapidly changing world, including the impact of war, social divisions and growing global instability.
They will also reflect on ways to advance the Church’s mission through greater collaboration, shared responsibility and the continued implementation of the Synod on Synodality.
Pope Leo said the Church exists to proclaim the Gospel and urged the cardinals to remain attentive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit as they carry out that mission together.

Concluding his address, the pontiff made a heartfelt appeal for visible and steadfast backing from the cardinals, saying he depended on their support and brotherhood as he leads the global Catholic Church.
