Davido Brings Trump Into Osun Election Debate, Warns Tinubu Over Poll
Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has declared that he will seek international attention if the forthcoming Osun State governorship election is marred by irregularities.
Speaking during a live session with comedian Carter Efe, the singer stressed the need for an electoral process that reflects the true choice of the people, insisting that elections should be conducted in a peaceful, free and transparent manner.
Davido, who has been openly campaigning for the re-election of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, said he would not ignore any attempt to compromise the integrity of the poll.
“I will involve Trump if anything goes wrong in the Osun election,” Davido said.
The remark has since generated conversations on social media, with many interpreting it as a warning that any alleged electoral malpractice would be brought to the attention of the international community.
The singer’s comments come as Osun prepares for the August 15 governorship election, where Governor Ademola Adeleke is seeking a second term in office.
In recent weeks, Davido has intensified his support for the governor’s campaign, repeatedly calling on the relevant authorities to ensure that the election is conducted in a manner that is free, fair and credible.
