Ilia Topuria Reveals How Many Fights He Has Left Before Retirement
Former two-division UFC champion Ilia Topuria has revealed that he expects to compete in only two or three more fights before retiring from mixed martial arts. The 29-year-old Georgian-Spanish fighter said his recent defeat to Justin Gaethje did not extinguish his passion for the sport but instead gave him renewed motivation to continue competing.
Topuria admitted he had considered retirement before facing Gaethje, believing he had already achieved nearly everything in his career. However, the defeat and loss of his title have strengthened his determination to return. He warned that his next opponent would face a more motivated fighter who fears nothing inside the Octagon.

The former champion plans to resume intensive training in January 2027 and hopes to return to competition in the second quarter of the year. He has expressed interest in fighting Paddy Pimblett and also expects to face Gaethje again before the American veteran retires. Topuria’s next few appearances could therefore shape the final chapter of his UFC career.
