Melania Trump Brings Russian, Ukrainian Officials Together in Fresh Peace Effort
US First Lady Melania Trump has hosted Russian and Ukrainian representatives at the White House, urging both countries to pursue lasting peace and end their prolonged conflict.

The Thursday meeting followed a six-day humanitarian ceasefire in Oleshky, Ukraine, which reportedly allowed nearly 800 civilians to evacuate and essential supplies to reach affected communities.
Russian representatives included President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, and human rights commissioner Yana Lantratova. Ukraine was represented by Dmytro Lubinets and Davyd Arakhamia.
Addressing the gathering, Melania urged both delegations to build on the temporary ceasefire and pursue an agreement capable of delivering lasting peace.
She expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries would produce a lasting settlement rather than another temporary suspension of hostilities.
The US First Lady also handed representatives personal letters addressed to Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, asking them to deliver the messages.
The meeting comes ahead of another round of US-mediated peace negotiations scheduled for November 10 and 11 in Abu Dhabi, involving Russian and Ukrainian officials.

Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, triggering a prolonged conflict that has displaced millions and devastated communities.
