Zverev Takes Over ATP World No. 1 as Sinner’s Reign Ends
Alexander Zverev has officially become the new world number one in men’s tennis, ending Jannik Sinner’s spell at the top of the ATP rankings. The German moves to 9,550 points, just 100 ahead of Sinner, who drops to second with 9,450. Zverev’s rise comes despite another semi-final exit in Vienna, completing a major career milestone after years of chasing the sport’s highest ranking.

Carlos Alcaraz remains third with 6,100 points after winning his first Vienna Open title, while Ben Shelton and Daniil Medvedev occupy fourth and fifth positions. Arthur Fils climbs to a career-high seventh, Alex de Minaur moves to ninth, and Rafael Jódar breaks into the top 10 for the first time. Novak Djokovic rises to 11th, while Felix Auger-Aliassime suffers one of the biggest setbacks, dropping six places to 13th.

There was also significant movement following the tournaments in Vienna and Basel. Valentin Vacherot climbs four places to 27th after winning the Swiss Indoors title, while runner-up Jiří Lehečka rises six places to 15th. Arthur Fery reaches a career-high 32nd, and Adrian Mannarino makes a notable 14-place jump to 59th. The updated rankings reflect a major shift at the top of men’s tennis, with Zverev now leading the race ahead of Sinner and Alcaraz.
