Costa Returns to Lightweight for UFC 334 Test Against Gordon
Melquizael Costa will face Jared Gordon in a lightweight bout at UFC 334 on November 14 in New York, returning to the 155-pound division after his six-fight winning streak at featherweight came to an end. The matchup was reported by Ag. Fight on October 1 and subsequently included in an October 25 announcement by UFC Brasil.
Costa’s impressive run featured finishes of Dan Ige and Morgan Charriere, alongside victories over Julian Erosa, Christian Rodriguez, Andre Fili and Shayilan Nuerdanbieke. However, Arnold Allen ended the Brazilian’s streak with a five-round unanimous-decision victory on May 16. Costa will now look to rebuild momentum against a familiar UFC lightweight competitor.

Gordon enters the contest after consecutive stoppage defeats, losing to Jim Miller by first-round guillotine submission at UFC 328 in May and suffering a third-round stoppage loss to Rafa Garcia in September 2025. The New York-born fighter last won against Thiago Moises in May 2025. Their upcoming clash adds another intriguing matchup to the UFC 334 card at Madison Square Garden, headlined by Ciryl Gane versus Josh Hokit for the heavyweight championship, with Kayla Harrison also scheduled to defend her bantamweight title against Amanda Nunes.
