Ødegaard Seals Arsenal’s 2-1 Victory Over Chelsea in London Derby

Arsenal secured a 2-1 victory over Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, strengthening their position at the top end of the Premier League title race.

Chelsea made a flying start as Morgan Rogers put the visitors ahead just two minutes into the game after connecting with Jorrel Hato’s pass.

Arsenal thought they had levelled through Riccardo Calafiori, but the goal was ruled out following a VAR review.

The champions eventually drew level in the 25th minute when Kai Havertz produced a fine finish from the edge of the box after being set up by Declan Rice.

Martin Ødegaard then completed Arsenal’s comeback five minutes after the restart, finishing a well-worked team move to make it 2-1.

Chelsea pushed for an equaliser late in the game, with substitute Estêvão forcing David Raya into an important save with a curling effort.

Arsenal held on through the closing stages to claim all three points and maintain their unbeaten run against Chelsea, who have now gone five years without defeating their London rivals.

The result also gives Mikel Arteta’s side an early advantage in the title race, while Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso will have to address his team’s defensive weaknesses despite their encouraging attacking display.
