VIDEO: BREAKING NEWS — Newborn Baby Boy Abandoned at National Broadcasting Academy, Lagos
A newborn baby boy, believed to be less than a week old, was found within the premises of the National Broadcasting Academy (NBA), Lagos, at about 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
The incident occurred after students at the academy heard the cries of a baby and rushed towards the direction of the sound.
According to a coursemate who witnessed the incident, she had earlier seen a young woman with a slim frame sitting under a tree within the academy premises while feeding and caring for the baby.
The woman was later reportedly seen going into the hostel area. However, when the coursemate returned, the woman was no longer there, while the cries of the baby could be heard from another part of the premises.
The baby was eventually traced to the spot where he was found, prompting students to rush to his aid.
This reporter, who was in the lecture hall when the incident occurred, personally witnessed the discovery of the newborn and the immediate efforts to ensure his safety.
Following the discovery, the director of the National Broadcasting Academy was informed, and arrangements were made to contact the police so that authorities could be made aware of the incident.
A woman responsible for attending to the hostel has also taken the baby into her room for temporary care.
Efforts are being made to provide the newborn with appropriate infant milk and other immediate necessities while further assistance is arranged.
The baby appeared weak after prolonged crying, but those at the scene immediately focused on keeping him safe and providing care.
The identity and whereabouts of the young woman reportedly seen with the baby remain unknown as of the time of filing this report.
The circumstances surrounding how the newborn came to be at the location are yet to be established.
