Anthony Smith Released on $500,000 Bail After Arrest on Three Felony Charges
Former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Anthony Smith has been released from jail after posting a $500,000 bail following his arrest on three felony charges in Nebraska.
Smith, who was arrested on Monday, appeared in court on Wednesday morning before securing his release from the Sarpy County Jail. Court records show he is facing three felony charges:
- Attempted First-Degree Domestic Assault
- Terroristic Threats
- First-Degree False Imprisonment
Authorities have not released further details, as the arrest affidavit remains sealed. Smith is expected to return to court at a later date, though the next hearing has not yet been announced.
The 37-year-old was once one of the UFC’s top light heavyweights and challenged Jon Jones for the UFC title in 2019. After retiring from the UFC following three consecutive losses, Smith returned to competition earlier this year, defeating Chase Sherman in a bare-knuckle MMA bout.
It’s important to note that these are allegations, and Smith remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
