Many Feared Dead as Three-Storey Building Under Construction Collapses in Port Harcourt
A cloud of uncertainty hung over Port Harcourt on Wednesday after a three-storey building under construction collapsed, raising fears that the incident may have claimed lives.

The structure came crashing down at a construction site behind Eternal Filling Station, opposite Chief Sam Ngbor Avenue, off Peter Odili Road in the Rivers State capital.
Witnesses said workers were carrying out construction activities when the building suddenly gave way, trapping several people beneath the rubble.
The collapse triggered panic in the area as residents and passersby rushed to the scene, calling for immediate emergency intervention.

Rescue teams and officials from relevant agencies later arrived and began searching through the debris in an effort to locate and evacuate victims.
Confirming the incident, spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, ASP Blessing Agabe, said two persons had been rescued from the wreckage and taken to a hospital for medical attention.
She noted that rescue operations were still ongoing to determine whether more people remained trapped beneath the collapsed structure.
Authorities have yet to confirm any fatalities, although fears of possible deaths persist as emergency workers continue combing through the site.

The cause of the collapse has not been established, and investigations are expected to determine what led to the structural failure.
