In the viral audio clip, shared on Denrele’s Instagram page, Alexx’s voice carried warmth and concern despite his own health struggles. He said:
“Rele, how are you? Good evening, hope well. I just saw something Tunde posted like 20 minutes ago about you. I know you hate sympathy so I’m just happy you’re okay now. I’m glad I reached out to be sure you’re fine but I know you are as always and your healing is permanent and God will continue to keep and bless and protect you. “You bring so much light, you’re such an energy giver, you’re an amazing individual, purest of them all, kindness of heart and you spread yourself in for everyone. Please, if there’s anywhere I can be there for you, don’t hesitate to let me know, okay? I love you my brother and I appreciate you deeply, deeply loved. God bless you.”
Denrele, deeply emotional, explained:
“This is the last Voice-Note ALEXX sent me (from his sick bed). And that’s the part I’m struggling with. Because while he was carrying battles I knew nothing about, he still found the strength to reach out and comfort me. That’s who ALEXX was.”

Denrele said the voice note carried the same closeness they shared over the years, with personal nicknames and a bond that began around 2010. He added that listening to it now feels heavier, knowing what Alexx may have been going through privately while still prioritising others.
He also reflected on their time working together on a film project in Port Harcourt, noting that Alexx remained lighthearted on set even when he was not at his best, lifting the mood of everyone around him.
The media personality admitted he had kept the voice note private since news of Alexx’s passing, describing it as a deeply personal memory he struggled to share publicly, but ultimately released it as a tribute to his kindness and spirit.
Alexx Ekubo was laid to rest in his hometown in Abia State, with family, friends, and colleagues in attendance.

As tributes continue, the voice note has taken on a deeper emotional weight for fans, serving as a reminder of the quiet compassion he showed even in his most difficult moments.
