2027 Election: Dele Momodu Says Nigerians Will Force Tinubu Out If He Rejects Defeat
African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Dele Momodu has expressed doubts about President Bola Tinubu’s willingness to conduct a credible election in 2027, claiming that even his supporters lack confidence.

The veteran journalist also raised concerns about whether Tinubu would peacefully surrender power if defeated at the polls, warning that Nigerians would resist any attempt to remain in office.
Momodu made the remarks during an interview on Arise News, where he discussed the political atmosphere ahead of the next presidential election.
According to him, many Nigerians do not believe Tinubu would guarantee a free and fair contest, regardless of the assurances coming from the President’s political camp.
He argued that supporters who confidently predict Tinubu’s victory often attribute their optimism to their relationship with the President rather than the strength of their electoral prospects.
Momodu also dismissed concerns that Tinubu might refuse to accept defeat, insisting that Nigerians possess the determination to challenge any attempt to undermine the outcome of the election.
The ADC chieftain said his confidence was not based solely on his party’s activities but also on what he described as growing public dissatisfaction with the prospect of another Tinubu presidency.
He added that opposition figures were working behind the scenes to strengthen their chances in 2027, although he declined to disclose their political strategies publicly.
Momodu recalled Tinubu’s determination to secure a second term as Lagos State governor, suggesting that political opponents were equally determined to prevent his re-election as President.
The journalist further alleged that some politicians who publicly support Tinubu privately worry about the current political climate, particularly what he described as the growing influence of the presidency over state governors, lawmakers and judges.
He claimed that fear had made it difficult for some public officials to challenge the President openly, warning that the situation could have serious consequences for democratic accountability.
Momodu maintained that Nigerians who oppose another Tinubu presidency would continue working towards their political objective ahead of the 2027 elections.
His comments come amid growing political discussions over the next presidential contest, with opposition parties expected to intensify their efforts to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
