Super Eagles vs Russia: 6 Players Who Could Impress Eric Chelle
Nigeria’s friendly against Russia on Tuesday presents an opportunity for several fringe players to impress Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle and push for bigger roles in the team.

Kelechi Iheanacho returns to the squad after missing Nigeria’s recent competitive matches and arrives in strong club form, while Basel defender Akpe Victory could provide another option in central defence. Alverca defender Isaac James is also hoping to make his senior debut after starting all seven of his club’s league matches before the international break.

In attack, Famalicão striker Umar Abubakar and Hradec Králové forward Abdullahi Umar have earned attention with their scoring records at club and youth levels. Fulham midfielder Chibuzo “Chibby” Nwoko, who has represented England at youth level, is another player looking to make an impression after receiving his first Super Eagles invitation.

With Chelle expected to use the Russia friendly to assess players outside his established group, a strong performance from any of the six could strengthen their case for more regular involvement with the national team.
