Shettima urges North to support Tinubu’s re-election bid
Vice-President Kashim Shettima has urged Northern leaders and citizens to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, saying the region has nothing to fear about his second term.
Shettima spokein Abuja while receiving a delegation from Arewa for Tinubu (A4A), a northern-based think tank.
He described Tinubu’s second-term agenda as important to the North’s prosperity and stability, citing government appointments, projects and programmes that benefit the region.
The Vice-President said the administration remained committed to the North’s development and disclosed that the Bank of Agriculture had disbursed 450 billion naira to 700,000 smallholder farmers nationwide, with about 70 per cent of the beneficiaries from the region.
He thanked A4A for its support and urged members to intensify grassroots mobilisation across wards, communities and local government areas.

He added that A4A was supporting the Presidential Campaign Council through grassroots mobilisation and community-level engagement.
Also speaking, A4A Board of Trustees Chairman and former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, said the group had supported Tinubu’s election in 2023 and was preparing to repeat the effort in 2027.
Shekarau said the organisation had engaged northern governors and other stakeholders to identify areas of collaboration.
