Pope Leo XIV Schedules Surgery to Remove Lung Nodule
Pope Leo XIV has announced that he will undergo surgery in the coming days to remove a nodule discovered in his lung during recent medical checkups. The 71-year-old pontiff said the nodule was detected at an early stage and was well localised.

The operation is expected to take place at Gemelli University Hospital in Rome, with the Vatican indicating that recovery could take approximately one week. Pope Leo said he had decided to proceed with the surgery following medical advice.

A lung nodule is a small mass of tissue that can be detected through imaging scans. Although many lung nodules are benign, some may be cancerous, and further medical assessment is often needed to determine their nature.
