Pastor Allegedly Kills Wife, Then Jumps Under Truck

A pastor of the Celestial Church of Christ, Bidemi Odukoya, has allegedly killed his wife at their home in Ogooluwa community, Akiode Ibogun, Ogun State.

Odukoya, pastor of Iri Orun Parish, reportedly fled the community after the incident before later dying after jumping in front of a moving truck.

The incident occurred around 2am on Monday, August 31, following an argument between the couple, according to Punch.

The couple, who had three sons, were said to have had a history of domestic disputes, with neighbours reportedly intervening in previous quarrels.

A neighbour, Oluwatoyin Oseni, said she had previously assisted the woman after one of the couple’s fights left her injured.

According to her, police had also intervened in one of their previous disputes, leading residents to believe the matter had been resolved.

Oseni said the couple had, however, stopped speaking to each other since June because of their repeated disagreements.

She said the couple’s 14-year-old son, Daniel, raised the alarm around 2am after his father allegedly attacked his mother.

Oseni said she and another neighbour rushed to the house, where they found the woman lying dead.

She added that residents later learned that Odukoya allegedly used a machete and wooden stool during the attack.

“We also saw Daddy Daniel with a cutlass in his hand,” Oseni said.

She said Odukoya appeared calm when questioned about the alleged killing but warned residents to stay away because he was armed.

“He calmly said that he too was as good as gone,” she said.

The pastor later reportedly left the community without residents knowing that he was heading towards Ifo, where he allegedly took his own life.

Community youth leader, Seun Adelana, said the couple’s latest dispute was reportedly triggered by allegations of infidelity.

According to Adelana, Odukoya had accused his wife of seeing another man, while some residents also alleged that the pastor was involved with another woman.

The community’s Baale, Taiwo Akiode, said residents in Ifo later reported seeing Odukoya repeatedly crossing the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

Akiode said the pastor eventually sat on the road divider before reportedly jumping in front of an approaching truck and dying instantly.

The Ogun State Police Command has commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The command’s deputy spokesperson, Opeyemi Oluborode, said the Commissioner of Police had ordered an investigation.

He added that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
