Kwankwaso’s Son Graduates in Nigeria, Nigerians Say ‘This Is Rare’
Alamin Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, son of former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has graduated from Nile University of Nigeria, drawing widespread attention online.
Alamin shared photographs from his graduation on Instagram on Tuesday, July 21, showing him celebrating the milestone with his father, siblings and other members of his family.
His caption was brief: “Alhamdullilah.”
But it was his choice of university that generated much of the conversation.
Rather than studying abroad, Alamin completed his degree at a Nigerian university. The decision surprised many Nigerians, who noted that the children of several wealthy politicians often attend universities outside the country.
Many social media users praised the former governor for allowing his son to study in Nigeria, describing the decision as unusual among the country’s political elite.
One commenter wrote, “Could afford abroad but chose to educate him in Nigeria. That’s rare from Nigerian politicians.”
Another reacted with surprise, saying, “Wait so some politicians’ children dey Nigeria? Ah, wow.”
Others described the decision as leading by example, while some used the occasion to question why many political leaders send their children abroad for education despite governing Nigeria’s institutions.
The graduation has therefore become more than a family celebration for many Nigerians, with the choice of a local university turning the academic milestone into a wider conversation about confidence in Nigeria’s education system.
