Einride Expects 500 Tesla Semis Within 16 Months
Swedish transport company Einride expects to receive all 500 Tesla Semi trucks it ordered within the next 16 months, marking one of the largest commitments yet for Tesla’s electric heavy-duty vehicle.
Einride CEO Roozbeh Charli disclosed the timeline in a recent interview, saying the company could have as many as 75 Tesla Semis operating in its fleet before the end of 2026.
The company placed the order as part of its plans to expand the use of electric trucks alongside its digital logistics technology.
Charli said Einride’s relationship with Tesla had been developing for some time, but the improving outlook for Semi production encouraged the company to make a much larger commitment.
“We decided to do a larger commitment to that and deploy that on our platform,” he said.
The trucks are expected to support Einride’s Saga AI platform, which helps logistics operators manage areas such as budgeting, forecasting and fleet deployment.
The Tesla deal also comes as Einride continues working with Amazon through the Saga platform, giving the Swedish company a broader role in helping businesses manage their transportation operations.
Einride initially said the 500 trucks would be delivered over two years. The company’s latest projection, however, suggests that the entire order could arrive much sooner.
Tesla has been preparing the Semi for full-scale production at a dedicated facility in Sparks, Nevada, following years of testing and real-world use.
Companies including PepsiCo and Frito-Lay have been involved in testing the electric truck on regional routes, giving Tesla data on its performance, reliability and operating efficiency.
Tesla has scheduled the official launch of the Semi for September 24, several months after production began ramping up.
Drivers who have used the truck have also praised its performance, particularly its safety and productivity features, which they say have made their daily routes easier.
If Einride meets its latest target, the arrival of 500 Tesla Semis by the end of 2027 could make the company one of the biggest operators of Tesla’s electric truck outside the manufacturer’s own testing programme.
