Iran Sends Secret Letter To Putin – What Tehran Wants Next Will Change Everything
Iran has reportedly sent a secret letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin as fears of further United States strikes grow.
According to a report by Times of India Tehran is turning to Moscow for powerful new air defence systems to rebuild its battered defences.
The report, citing The Telegraph, said Tehran sent security chief Mohsen Razai to Moscow to deliver the message in person.
Razai travelled with a personal letter from Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, underscoring the importance Tehran places on the request.
The letter reportedly requests Russia’s advanced S-400 missile defence systems, one of the most sophisticated air defence weapons in Moscow’s arsenal.
The request comes as Iran seeks to rebuild its air defences following devastating attacks during the war that exposed major weaknesses.
Razai met President Putin on Thursday, with a senior Iranian official telling The Telegraph that Tehran was optimistic about securing the systems.
However, no agreement has been confirmed, and there is no indication of when any S-400 systems could be delivered if a deal is eventually reached.
Why Moscow Has Held Back
Moscow has resisted supplying the advanced weapons for years, partly over concerns about its relations with Israel and other regional powers.
The report also cites confidential documents showing that an Iranian parliamentary committee had recommended closer military cooperation with Russia and China even before the war began in February.
What Tehran Wants Next
The proposals reportedly called for stronger air defences, missiles, and drones alongside deeper strategic military partnerships with Moscow and Beijing.
Iran’s renewed push comes after strikes exposed vulnerabilities in its defence network, leaving sensitive nuclear facilities and senior military commanders at risk.
But Russia faces its own constraints, with Ukrainian drone and missile attacks putting sustained pressure on Russian air defences.
Analysts say Moscow may have limited S-400 systems available to spare, and Russia is also reportedly weighing the risk of directly antagonising Washington by providing Tehran with more advanced military capabilities. The developments come amid signs of expanding military cooperation between Moscow and Tehran.
