Jose Aldo Reveals the Real Reason He Cried After McGregor Loss
UFC legend Jose Aldo has explained why he broke down backstage after Conor McGregor knocked him out in just 13 seconds at UFC 194 in December 2015. The Brazilian said his tears were not simply about losing his featherweight title, but about believing he had lost the chance to avenge the defeat.

Aldo recalled expecting an immediate rematch because he had dominated the featherweight division for years. However, he said UFC president Dana White later told him McGregor would move up to lightweight because making the 145-pound limit had become too difficult, leaving Aldo convinced the rematch would never happen.

More than a decade later, Aldo’s explanation offers a different perspective on one of the most memorable moments in UFC history. For the former champion, the pain came from knowing he might never get another opportunity to settle the rivalry inside the Octagon.
