Couple Found Dead Nine Years After Losing Two Children in Tragic Fire
Bridgid “Biddy” O’Brien, 45, and her partner Jamie McGinn, 38, have been found dead at their home in Bray, County Dublin, Ireland, nine years after a devastating fire killed their two young children. Gardaí discovered their bodies shortly after 8am on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, and have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
Authorities say post-mortem examinations will help determine the direction of the investigation. Although sources indicate that investigators do not currently suspect foul play, toxicology results may take several weeks. The couple’s children, Jordan, four, and Holly, three, died in a March 2017 fire that also killed Biddy’s sister, Anne Marie O’Brien, who was seven months pregnant, and her two-year-old daughter, Paris. Biddy survived after spending weeks in intensive care.

The tragedy has left the local community in shock, with friends sharing emotional tributes online. Local representative John Brady described the deaths as devastating for the close-knit community. The couple reportedly struggled with substance abuse following the loss of their children, while McGinn was sentenced to 18 months in prison in 2024 after pleading guilty to possessing cocaine and cannabis for a drugs gang. Gardaí have appealed to anyone with relevant information to contact the authorities.
