Guinea-Bissau vs Nigeria: What Super Eagles Fans Need to Know

Nigeria face Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday in their second Group L match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Both teams won their opening games, with Nigeria beating Madagascar 2-1 and Guinea-Bissau defeating Tanzania 2-0.

Guinea-Bissau currently lead the group on goal difference, while Nigeria have won three of their four previous meetings with the Djurtus. However, Guinea-Bissau also recorded a 1-0 victory over the Super Eagles in Abuja in 2023, with Mama Baldé scoring the decisive goal.

Baldé will be one of the players to watch again, having scored eight international goals and needing one more to become Guinea-Bissau’s all-time leading scorer. Nigeria will also be without Victor Osimhen through injury, while George Ilenikhena and Akor Adams face fitness doubts ahead of the match.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Guinea-Bissau at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro in Bissau at 5pm Nigerian time. The match could also see Taiwo Awoniyi and Tolu Arokodare given opportunities if the doubtful forwards are ruled out.
