Does history truly ret peat itself? The answer to this age-old beautiful question cannot be in a monosyllabic word.
However, history has a tendency to repeat itself in some ways, but it’s not a straightforward yes or no answer.
Verifiable research has shown why history might repeat itself basically because of human nature, cycles of time and lack of learning.
On the reverse side of the coin, history might not repeat itself because of things like changing context, human progress and the unpredictability of life.
The truth lies somewhere in between because while history doesn’t repeat itself exactly, it often rhymes.
On account of studying the past, we can identify patterns, learn from successes and failures, and make more informed decisions to shape our future.

On this day in 1998, the UN’s International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda found Jean-Paul Akayesu, the former mayor of a small town in Rwanda, guilty of nine counts of genocide.
Still on this day in 2008, Google launched its Google Chrome web browser.
In 2018, obviously on this day, the National Museum of Brazil fire; a massive fire destroyed most of the Paço de São Cristóvão, which houses the National Museum of Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro. The museum holds important archaeοlogical and anthropological objects, including the remains of the Luzia Woman, Marajoara vases and Egyptian mummies.
Today in history says in 2024, again on this day, at least 129 inmates were killed and 59 more injured in an attempted prison break at Makala Prison in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Regrettably on this day in 2014, dozens of people were killed as Boko Haram captured the town of Bama.
Amazingly on this day in 1960, Wilma Rudolph Wins Gold: American sprinter Wilma Rudolph, who overcame childhood polio, blazed to victory in the 100-meter dash at the Rome Summer Olympics. She won the gold medal by an impressive three yards with a time of 11.0 seconds flat.
Still on this day in 1969, the First ATM is Installed: Chemical Bank in Rockville Centre, New York, revolutionized personal banking by installing the first automated teller machine designed to safely dispense cash to consumers.
However on this day in 2024, Nigeria witness the passing of an Iconic Centenarian: Hajiya Binta Dada Yar’Adua, the matriarch of the prominent Yar’Adua family, passed away at over 100 years old. She was uniquely known as the only woman in Nigerian history to be the mother of a President (Umaru Musa Yar’Adua) and a Vice President (Shehu Musa Yar’Adua).
