Naomi Osaka Turns Heads at US Open With Allen Iverson-Inspired Outfit
Naomi Osaka made a statement before even hitting a ball at the US Open, arriving at Arthur Ashe Stadium in a striking outfit inspired by NBA legend Allen Iverson.
The two-time US Open champion wore an elaborate all-white ensemble featuring a hooded tunic, layers of tulle and newspaper clippings.
The outfit was created by Who Decides War and styled by renowned image architect Law Roach.
But there was more to the look than fashion. Osaka used it to celebrate Iverson’s influence on basketball, streetwear and popular culture.
The newspaper details also referenced moments from Osaka’s own career, turning the outfit into a piece of personal storytelling.
Osaka has become known for using fashion to express her personality, heritage and interests, regularly making headlines with her Grand Slam outfits.
And she backed up the fashion statement on court.
The Japanese star defeated Anastasia Zakharova 7-6(6), 7-6(3) to reach the second round of the US Open.
At 28, Osaka continues to show that her influence stretches beyond tennis. In New York, she is serving both power and style.
