George Michael Beats Queen and Michael Jackson to Be Named Greatest Music Icon
George Michael has been voted the greatest music icon of all time by Smooth Radio listeners, beating legends including Michael Jackson, Queen and Whitney Houston.
The late singer topped the station’s annual Smooth Icons Top 100 for the fourth consecutive year, showing that his music continues to resonate with fans years after his death.

Michael ranked ahead of Michael Jackson in second place, Queen in third, Whitney Houston in fourth and ABBA in fifth.
His career produced major success both with Wham! and as a solo artist. With Wham!, he recorded five UK number-one singles before launching his solo career with the hit album Faith in 1987.
As a solo artist, Michael went on to achieve seven UK number-one singles and seven number-one albums, with classics such as “Careless Whisper,” “Father Figure” and “A Different Corner.”
The result further cements George Michael’s place among the most influential and enduring stars in popular music.
