South Korea Urges North Korea to Stop ‘Derogatory’ Remarks
South Korea has called on North Korea to stop making what Seoul described as “derogatory remarks” against its government and President Lee Jae Myung, saying such comments could undermine efforts to build trust between the two countries.
The statement followed criticism from Kim Yo-jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, who mocked Seoul over the scaling down of a joint South Korea-US military exercise. She also accused President Lee of making contradictory statements about the drills and South Korea’s plans to strengthen its own military capabilities.

Despite the tensions, Seoul said it remains committed to peaceful coexistence and intends to continue working closely with the United States while encouraging the resumption of dialogue between North Korea and Washington.
