Jose Aldo Backs Max Holloway to Beat Conor McGregor at UFC 329
Former UFC featherweight champion believes has the edge over ahead of their highly anticipated clash at UFC 329.

The main event, scheduled for July 11 at the , marks McGregor’s first fight in five years. The former two-division UFC champion has been out of action since suffering a broken leg in his trilogy bout against in 2021.
McGregor and Holloway previously met in 2013, with the Irishman earning a unanimous decision victory. However, this rematch will take place at welterweight, unlike their first meeting at featherweight.
Despite McGregor’s legendary status, Holloway enters the contest as the favourite due to his recent activity and impressive run against top opponents.
Aldo, who famously lost to McGregor in just 13 seconds in 2015, believes the Irishman still has the skills to make the fight competitive.

“I think it’s a very close fight,” Aldo said. “Max is the favourite because he has remained active and continues to perform at a high level. Conor has been away for a long time, so there are questions about his fitness, timing and overall form.”
The Brazilian added that McGregor’s long absence is the biggest uncertainty heading into the fight, but warned against writing him off.
“Conor still has the power, experience and striking ability to knock anyone out,” Aldo said. “It all depends on which version of him shows up on fight night.”
Aldo also praised Holloway’s qualities, describing him as one of the smartest fighters in the UFC.
“Max has excellent boxing, great fight IQ and can absorb punishment very well,” he said. “He’s been through many tough battles over the years, but he’s still an exceptional fighter.”

Holloway and Aldo share their own history, with the American defeating the Brazilian twice in 2017 to establish himself as the dominant force in the featherweight division.
While Holloway’s consistent activity makes him the favourite, Aldo believes McGregor’s experience and proven ability mean the former champion cannot be overlooked.

The UFC 329 main event is expected to be one of the biggest fights of the year, with fans eager to see whether McGregor can make a successful return or if Holloway will extend his impressive run.
