Trump Warns Iran of Devastating Consequences as Fresh Strikes Deepen Gulf Tensions
US President Donald Trump has warned that Iran could face total destruction if hostilities continue, following a new wave of American airstrikes that have intensified the conflict across the Middle East.
The warning came after the United States carried out fresh military attacks on several targets inside Iran, a day after Washington said it struck Iranian positions in response to a drone attack on a commercial cargo vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the United States had exercised restraint but cautioned that Washington could eventually launch a decisive military operation if Iran refused to back down.
He declared that such an action would leave the Islamic Republic unable to survive.
The latest escalation was followed by reports of missile and drone attacks targeting Bahrain and Kuwait.
Kuwaiti authorities said their air defence systems were activated to intercept incoming threats, while emergency sirens sounded across parts of Bahrain.
US Vice President JD Vance also defended the administration’s approach, saying Iran’s nuclear programme had already been severely weakened and insisting the United States would emerge victorious regardless of whether a new agreement was reached with Tehran.
Separately, Trump announced his intention to nominate Lance Schroyer as the next director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
He praised Schroyer’s nearly three decades of law enforcement experience, including service as an Oklahoma State Trooper and a former US Marine.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin welcomed the nomination, saying Schroyer would help implement the administration’s immigration enforcement agenda by strengthening efforts to identify, arrest and deport undocumented migrants.
