Deadly Drone Strike at Kuwait Airport Leaves Fatalities and Injuries as Iran-US Tensions Escalate
Kuwait International Airport was plunged into chaos after a drone attack triggered fire outbreaks and widespread panic, leaving casualties and disrupting operations at one of the country’s busiest transport hubs.
Authorities in Kuwait condemned the incident as a serious act of aggression, accusing Iran of being behind the strike and describing it as a direct violation of national sovereignty and civilian safety.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps denied involvement, insisting it had no role in the attack and suggesting the destruction may have been caused by a technical malfunction linked to defensive systems in the region.
US Central Command rejected that explanation, maintaining that the strike was deliberate and part of a broader pattern of escalating hostilities between Iranian forces and US interests across the Gulf.
The United States said it had recently conducted defensive military actions in response to perceived threats, including intercepting drones and carrying out strikes on sites it linked to Iranian operations.
The incident has further strained already fragile diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation, with accusations continuing to fly between Tehran and Washington over a series of attacks in the region.
Among those affected at the airport was a foreign national confirmed killed, while several others were reported injured as emergency responders worked to contain fires and secure damaged sections of the facility.
Kuwait has since ordered the expulsion of Iranian diplomatic officials as investigations continue and regional tensions deepen.
