US Under Fire as Iran Demands Justice for 168 Children Killed in School Strike

The United States is facing calls for accountability from Iran over the deaths of 168 children allegedly killed in a missile strike on Shajareh Teybeh School in Minab.

The Embassy of Iran in Nigeria made the demand in a statement issued on Friday, calling for truth, accountability and justice over the incident.

The embassy said the appeal came 168 days after the reported start of the war, noting the coincidence between the number of days since the conflict began and the number of children it said were killed.

Iran alleged that the school was hit by a US missile, killing 168 children. The embassy said those responsible for the attack must be identified and held accountable.

It also said the United States had not formally accepted responsibility for the strike, despite what Tehran described as evidence linking US forces to the attack.

“168 days have passed since the beginning of the aggression against Iran,” the embassy said.

“168 innocent children lost their lives as a result of U.S. missile strikes on Shajareh Teybeh School in Minab.”

The embassy said the death of a child should carry the same weight regardless of nationality, stressing that Iranian children should not be valued differently from children elsewhere in the world.

“The life of an Iranian child is no less valuable than the life of an American, European or any other child in the world,” it said.

Iran urged the international community to uphold international humanitarian law and ensure that attacks on civilians are properly investigated.
