Several Injured as Knife Attack Sparks Panic at New York’s Penn Station

Several people were injured after a man launched a knife attack inside Pennsylvania Station in New York City on Sunday evening, triggering panic among commuters and forcing many to flee one of the busiest transit hubs in the United States.

Authorities said emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving reports of multiple stabbings inside the station.

The victims were treated at the scene before being taken to hospital for further medical care.

Officials confirmed that one person suffered serious injuries, while the others sustained wounds that were not believed to be life-threatening. All of the victims are expected to survive.

The suspect was quickly taken into custody by law enforcement officers assigned to the station. His identity had not been released as investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Witnesses described chaotic scenes as frightened passengers ran toward exits after realizing an attack had taken place.

Some commuters reportedly sought refuge inside nearby stores, while others rushed up stairways and through station corridors in an effort to escape the area.

One witness said passengers were screaming and running in different directions, while another described seeing emergency personnel treating an injured victim shortly after the violence erupted.

The incident occurred inside Penn Station, a major transportation hub beneath Madison Square Garden that serves thousands of rail passengers daily.

Emergency workers moved swiftly to secure the area and assist the injured as police launched an investigation into what led to the attack.

The violence unfolded just hours before large crowds were expected to pass through the area for a major sporting event, adding to concerns among commuters and city officials.

Authorities have not yet disclosed a possible motive, and investigations remain ongoing.

The attack left many passengers shaken, with several witnesses describing the incident as a frightening reminder of how quickly routine travel can turn into a scene of confusion and fear.
