Paulo Costa Says UFC Is ‘Lost’ Without Dana White

Paulo Costa has criticized the UFC’s matchmaking process, claiming the promotion has become “lost” without Dana White playing a bigger role in day-to-day decisions. Costa, who has one fight remaining on his UFC contract, says he has been frustrated by delays since his April victory despite being ready to return within weeks.

The Brazilian believes his contract situation could be complicating matters, particularly with the UFC light heavyweight division facing uncertainty over an interim title. Costa argued that he, Magomed Ankalaev and Navajo Stirling should be considered for the belt, especially with the champion sidelined by injury. He also suggested that if White were still making the calls, his next fight would likely have already been arranged.

Costa said he expects to fight out the final bout of his UFC deal but remains interested in maximizing his leverage. He revealed that he has also spoken with Eddie Hearn about a management proposal and praised greater competition among combat-sports promotions. For now, however, Costa’s next opponent and whether an interim-title opportunity is on the table remain unresolved.
