Nigerian Troops Destroy ISWAP Camp, Kill 21 Terrorists in Adamawa
Nigerian troops have dismantled an Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) camp in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, killing at least 21 terrorists.
The operation was carried out in the Kopre Mountain area on August 27 by troops of Operation Hadin Kai, working alongside the ONSA Tactical Team and newly deployed soldiers of 226 Battalion.
According to the military, the troops engaged the terrorists in two separate encounters before taking control of the camp and destroying its logistics infrastructure.
Several terrorists reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.
During the operation, troops also destroyed motorcycles, bicycles and jerrycans containing petrol believed to have been used for terrorist logistics. They recovered AK-47 rifles, magazines and 7.62mm ammunition.
The military said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to locate and rescue victims abducted from Mussa community and Lassa, including schoolchildren reportedly kidnapped earlier this year.
The military has vowed to sustain operations until the abducted victims are found and rescued, while continuing efforts to restore security across Nigeria’s North-East.
